In May a new law was given Royal Assent, providing homeowners with more rights and protection. The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 strengthens existing – and introduces new – rights, including a standard template for service charge estimates and accounts, a requirement to give buildings insurance information, the removal of marriage value on lease extensions, changes to qualification criteria for enfranchisement and the right to manage.
These changes will come into force following commencement orders from the government. We don’t know the timescales for when these’ll happen but we’re reviewing our processes in preparation for the changes. For more information visit GOV.UK or read the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 in full.
